Super Mario 35th Anniversary Pin Set #1 Now Arriving.
The first of the anniversary Mario pin sets have begun to arrive this week. A reward earned through various My Nintendo missions, the scramble to order the set when it was first made available last month crashed the Nintendo store site for several hours at the time- and now the first wave of orders are arriving.
The short video below shows the box’s contents with pins representing the first three Super Mario Bros games, in addition to Super Mario World and Super Mario 64. I’ve rearranged the pins here into their proper chronological order, as they arrived with Mario 2 between Mario World and Mario 64 and, well, we just can’t have that now, can we?
The pinholes in the black display board strip are not placed at the same height but are instead raised or lowered for the pins in the non-chronological order that they arrive in. As a result, if you “fix” the order as I have here, some pins will ride lower to the bottom than they would otherwise.
Pin Set #1 will be available until December 22nd, while supplies last. Pin Set #2 will include pins for Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros. U, Super Mario 3D World, and Super Mario Odyssey. However, no word yet on when exactly the next pin set will become available (or what missions it will require), but it will seemingly be sometime after December 22nd. Given that this first pin set was tied to the release (and purchase) of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, it seems likely that Nintendo may tie the second set to the release of Super Mario 3D World in late February.
The 35th Anniversary Events Calendar article will be updated as more information on Pin Set #2 becomes available.
