How To Get The Most Out Of Your Stream

Creating shareable content is king.

Sharable content is content that adds value to the consumer. Make it your goal to produce content that informs, entertains, or engages the viewer. This is the objective every time you press the button to go live, tweet, or share on any other social platform. Here are five ways to do that.

Document your journey.

Every time you go live start your stream with a vlog.

  • What is going on with your life? What are you collecting? What are you learning? Can you teach us what you are learning? Maybe it’s playing an instrument or your journey to going pro in a game.
  • As human beings we all love stories, so tell us your story. Don’t be afraid to learn while your stream is live. Letting your community grow with you lets them know that you are real and it is the opposite of what most people do. Documenting your success story will bring engagement and allow you to track growth. Growth is inspiring and inspiring content is content that brings value
  • Documenting your journey takes the guessing game out of what piece of content will you create next. This will allow you to produce consistent content with each stream.
  •  I created the Smash Bros Cast to document my journey learning to play competitive Smash. I doubled the size of my discord with that podcast. I still hold monthly tournaments that bring the highest numbers on Twitch. I got beat down and still get beat down in that game as learn and grow as a player. My Smash Bros journey continues to add friends and has formed so lasting relationships. It has also allowed many others to not only meet new friends but also become better players as grow as a community.
  • Make sure to have Twitch save your past broadcast in your account settings. After each stream, you can create a highlight of your vlog. You can then share directly to Youtube or download it if you want to edit it. Share your vlog everywhere. Youtube, Instagram, and Facebook. Give new people the chance to find you.

Share your knowledge

There’s an old saying that you only need to be one step ahead of someone to be an expert in their eyes.

  • Share what you have learned about streaming. What problems were difficult to find answers to? Be the solution to those problems for others.
  • It doesn’t matter if you only have a few viewers each stream solving problems for people is a great way to add value to them. Your lack of numbers doesn’t discredit the value you can bring.
  • You are not a failure until you succeed. Change that mindset and share the knowledge you have.
  • This has been my mindset for years and has kept me from sharing what I have learned. I assumed because I don’t have millions of subs or followers that my info wasn’t relevant. Everyone’s success story will be different so even if I had all those followers you wouldn’t be able to emulate it to find the same success. Our stories will be unique. There isn’t a road map to success. You are forging your path and I want you to forge with the mindset that you are already a success.
  • This content can be similar to a vlog. Share your experiences right on stream and upload them to other platforms later.
  • Make sure to use keyword-rich titles to generate organic search traffic. A few examples would be; gear reviews or game reviews. How to get build faster in Fortnite. The title you videos with the questions people are asking.

Clips and highlights

This is the bread and butter of your sharable stream content.

  • Take your best moments from your streams and put together highlight videos for Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, and even Twitch. These moments will include amazing plays in-game, funny moments, and you being you. Let people see what they can expect from your streams
  • Use 30-60 second videos for Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok, and Snapchat. Create this short-form content with the viewer in mind. With every piece of content big or small ask yourself how it can add value to the person consuming it. Make it for them.
  • Ask questions or ask for suggestions. Give people a chance to share their opinions with you. If you make a bad play post that and ask how you could have approached it better?
