The reverse F.L.U.D.D
The Smash Bros blog updated yesterday and its the first update that has brought a surprise in a while. Luigi’s throw in Smash Bros Ultimate will feature his Polergust.
He can jump higher than his brother, Mario. His Up Special, Super Jump Punch, will gain maximum damage and launching power when hitting the opponent right at the start. It truly is a “Special” move. He also uses his new Poltergust for his throw!
Speculations
What will the new Poltergust do? In the Luigi’s Mansion it has a vacuum function and a blowing function. In the Smash Bros Ultimate Direct it also fired a plunger so there are some interesting possibilities here.
The Sucking Function
If the new Poltergust uses the sucking function it would greatly extend the reach of Luigi’s grab. Extending his grab would be a huge buff for his kit. Characters like Pac-Man and Kirby both have grabs that pull their opponents in so Luigi could end up like them.
The Blowing Function
It is unlikely that this function would have anything to do with his grab I am curious if we see this function. Having the ability to push people away with the Poltergust would make Luigi even more like Mario with F.L.U.D.D. This is purely spectulation because only his grab was mentioned in the update but it would open up more possiblites for edge gurarding.
Firing a Plunger
Another possibility could be that the Poltergust fires a plunger that would work as a tether. If this is the case Luigi would join the ranks Seamus and Link when it comes to grabbing range and edge recovery.
Luigi’s Buff?
With the Poltergust now apart of Luigi’s kit, I would say that he has received a buff. If it does extend his grab range it will be huge for a character that has always needed to bet in close.
