Mario Maker 2 Switch Mockup

Mario Maker 2 Needs a D-Pad Joycon

I did a quick mockup of Joycons I would love to see announced with Mario Maker 2.  It has been a hot minute since Nintendo released new Joycons. Mario Maker 2 seems like the perfect time to announce new Joycons, but with a twist. It’s time the Switch had a proper D-pad for playing handheld. Mario Maker 2 is a game that I want to be able to create and test stages on the go but without a proper D-pad that will be tricky. I know that HORI has D-Pad Joycon for the Switch but it only works while playing a handheld. I wouldn’t mind seeing these Joycons and a matching grip so I can play docked with a first party D-pad. If you’re wondering why I wouldn’t just use a Pro Controller you can check out this article here.

What about sharing the Joy???

I am ok with not sharing the joy with these yellow Joycons if it means I get a decent D-Pad from Nintendo. Playing Mario Maker 2 on the go without a D-pad will be rough so hopefully, Nintendo comes through. Would you buy a set of these if Nintendo released them? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Although I have no connection to Mario Maker and I am probably not going to pick it up. I would LOVE two yellow joycons!!

  2. I think the idea is awesome, but I just don’t have the time or patience to create me own levels.
