Octopath Traveler sells out in Japan.
Ocotopath Traveler sales were underestimated in Japan and because of it, most stores sold out of the physical copy of the game. Square Enix took to Twitter to let fans know that if they wanted to play over the holiday weekend in Japan they needed to purchase the game from the eshop or buy a code from a retail store.
The translation reads:
We are sorry that some of the shops are out of stock in the three holidays! You can also consider the DL version and the download card for sale at Lawson!
Although frustrating for consumers it excites me to see the demand for this game is so great. I was only able to spend about an hour with the game but all I can think about is jumping back in.
With Octopath Traveler sales starting off so strong one can only hope that a sequel will be all but inevitable. Square Enix released a statement that Octopath Traveler will not receive any DLC, the game shipped complete and the devs will move on to their next project. Square Enix has a hit with Ocotopath Traveler the art style that harkens back to the Super Nintendo era. The sprite work is some the best I have seen and the lighting and weather effects build atmosphere for a world that you can easily lose yourself in. It is no wonder that the game is selling so well.
Did you play your part in Octopath Traveler’s sales? What have been your first impressions of the game? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.
