The Don’ts
- Avoid frustrating the player
- Avoid trapping the player
- Avoid the leap of faith unless you use coins or arrows to direct the player
- Avoid the pixel perfect jump without building up to it
- Don’t place too many power-ups that would allow the player to cheese the level
- Avoid enemy spam
The Do’s
- Direct the player with coins or arrows.
- Teach the player throughout the level working up to one major challenge like pixel-perfect jump
- Give the player breathing room between challenges
- Add secrets to breathing area
