Final Fantasy 7 Play Through Part 2

My first few hours with Final Fantasy 7

The game opens with some incredible music that listened to for longer than expected. The 4:3 aspect ratio made it clear that I was right back to 1997. The art style of stationary work meets polygonal characters has quite of bit of charm. It’s industrial and gritty, and I would assume fairly unique for the time. I’m sure on CRT it looked great.

The world, characters, and story.

With a little imagination I have been able to lose myself in this game. I’m curious about the characters and their story. What is Soldier and why are they evil? Why did Cloud cut ties and join Avalanche? Has he fully cut ties? These are the questions that keep me engaged and excited to jump back in. I’m concerned about the consequences of destroying the reactors. What will happen to the slums? I’m expecting a twist and can’t wait to find out what happens!

I spent about half hour this morning grinding about 8 levels in an attempt to make sure I can stay ahead of the encounters. The Switch version of Final Fantasy 7 does include a few cheats like speeding up time, God mode, and turning off random encounters. I’m only using the time when I decide to grind other than that I want to experience this game like it was in 97.
