Nintendo announced the cast for “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” in September 2021 during a Nintendo Direct event. The cast includes big names such as Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, and Jack Black. Pratt will voice the character of Mario, while Taylor-Joy voices Princess Peach. Charlie Day plays Luigi, and Jack Black voices Bowser. There are also several other notable voice actors involved in the film, including Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, Fred Armisen, Sebastian Maniscalco, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Khary Payton.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie Plot
“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” adds more context to the basic premise of the game, with Bowser attempting to conquer the world. Only Mario can stop him, and the film includes many video game Easter eggs throughout. The movie is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and is set to release in theaters on April 7, 2023.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie Streaming
After its theatrical release, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” will be available to stream on Peacock 45 days later, and on Netflix in late 2023.
Potential for More Nintendo Adaptations
If the movie is successful, there may be more adaptations from Nintendo. There are already reports that Illumination is preparing a Donkey Kong spin-off. Other potential adaptations could include “The Legend of Zelda,” “Metroid,” “Star Fox,” and “Fire Emblem.” The success of “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” could usher in a new wave of video game adaptations, disproving the conventional wisdom that all video game adaptations are bad.
