Mario Kart and Labo
If you currently own Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Nintendo Labo Variety Kit the two now work together thanks to the free update from Nintendo. Fire up Mario Kart 8 Deluxe after the latest update and you will see that Labo has been added to the main menu of the game next to amiibo. After selecting Labo you will see options for players 1-4 and the controller setup they want to use for local wireless.
As you can see the setting will take effect only when using two detached Joy-Con controllers. I own the variety kit but haven’t put the Toy-Con Motorbike together yet, so I tried this by control scheme by holding the Joy-Con’s in the air sideways and proceeded to race like I was driving a motorbike. The photo below breaks down your controls while using Toy-Con Motorbike.
All you have left to do now is select a bike (or kart) and start driving like an actual bike. I will be checking back in once I have put the bike together to let you know how it controlled, but without the handlebars, it did prove to be pretty tricky.
What do you think of this new mode that seemingly came out of left field? Do you want to see more games receive Labo support? Does the integration into more games make the Variety Pack look more appealing now? Let me know what you think in the comments below.
