Yesterday the Pokemon Company gave an 11-minute presentation yesterday that revealed more details on the upcoming Sword/Shield DLC as well as three brand-new Pokemon titles coming soon.
First up was Pokemon Smile, a free mobile app that encourages children to brush their teeth in a fun augmented reality experience. Kids save their favorite Pokemon by brushing away cavity-causing bacteria in a setting that promotes healthy hygiene habits at home.
Second, Pokemon Cafe Mix is an upcoming free-to-start puzzle game for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices where players run their own coffeeshops for Pokemon. Users take down orders and swirl matching icons together in a manner reminiscent of LINE’s Disney Tsum Tsum mobile app. Pokemon customers can be befriended, then brought into the cafe as fellow employees to help fill orders with their special abilities. Eventually, players can extend and customize their cafes with new areas.
The next announcement was New Pokemon Snap, a surprise return of the original Nintendo 64 title from 1999. From a description by the Pokemon Company:
“(New Pokemon Snap) will take Trainers on an adventure to unknown islands overflowing with natural sights such as jungles and beaches, where they can research various Pokémon in their natural habitats. They will take photos to make their very own in-game Pokémon Photodex, all while discovering new, never-before-seen Pokémon expressions and behaviors.”
The game’s official website states that Pokemon from multiple generations will appear in a variety of environments to include deserts, jungles, and more. New Pokemon Snap is being developed by Bandai Namco. A release date has not been announced.
The other major reveal in the presentation was details of the Isle of Armor expansion content released yesterday. The continuing Galar adventure brings Trainers to the Isle of Armor to battle a variety of Pokemon populating new terrain such as caves, beaches, bogs, and forests. They will also battle Pokemon at the island’s dojo and become stronger under the guidance of Mustard, the dojo’s master as well as Champion Leon’s mentor.
To celebrate the Isle of Armor launch, a special Max Raid Battle featuring the Mythical Pokémon Zeraora is now available in Pokémon Sword/Shield. Until June 28, if one million players around the world win the Max Raid Battle, those Trainers can receive a special Shiny Zeraora.
The Pokemon Company promises more news and major surprises in a second Pokemon Presents presentation to take place next Wednesday, June 24.
