Nintendo May Have Some Big Surprises For E3

Nintendo is working hard to keep E3 a secret.

Monday is zero hour for E3 set up and media has very little access to show floor. Nintendo is in the West Hall this year and I was told to “move along” when I tried to scope it out. Nintendo is going to great lengths to keep their Direct a secret. A cease and desist letter was sent to a well know Nintendo leaker, so the Nintendo Ninjas are in full force. What could their big secret be? There has been no mention of Animal Crossing since Isabelle was invited to Smash Bros Ultimate. The lanyards everyone received are Switch themed but they only show Zelda, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and Pokemon Sword and Shield. When I was at E3 in 2016 the main game was Breath of the Wild and that was on the lanyards. Is Animal Crossing absent? Is Animal Crossing gameplay the big secret? Nintendo is doing a great job of keeping me on the edge of my seat. I am going to hold on to hope from the Direct that said Animal Crossing is 2019.

Pokemon and Animal Crossing one two punch.

The Pokemon games were only outsold by Mario Kart 7 on 3DS and Animal Crossing New Leaf was nearly top 5 with 12.21 million units sold. These two series could move some serious Switch units this holiday, but maybe Nintendo launches Animal Crossing late mid to late summer to give us some breathing room before Pokemon Sword and Shield?

What do you think Nintendo’s big secret is? Could it be Animal Crossing? Let me know in the comments below.
