WindWaker and Twilight Princess Coming To Switch (Rumor)

The Switch may end being a Zelda Machine

My good friend, Stealth, tweeted that WindWaker and Twilight Princess are coming to the Switch.

More WiiU Ports

It’s important to remember that nothing is gospel until Nintendo announces it, so keep the grain of salt handy. If it ends up being true, it’s not all that surprising. Porting WiiU titles is easy money for Nintendo, and it’s more people experience some incredible games.

How can they release so many games?

The release windows for these games is my biggest question. Flooding the market isn’t good for anyone, so they have to keep them spread out. Add third parties to the equation, and now that window gets much more substantial. According to Stealth Metroid Prime Trilogy has been finished, but unreleased due to so many games coming out. Nintendo was ready to weather the storm of no third party support. Between new games and ports, Nintendo did not want the game droughts they had with the WiiU.

Your thoughts on WindWaker and Twilight Princess coming to the Switch?

Let me what you think in the comments below. Do you think these games will happen?

  1. Makes sense that Twilight Princess HD would be coming to Switch. I *just* bought it for Wii U.

P.S. – I also just bought an overpriced Wolf Link amiibo for Twilight, so expect that will also be reissued shortly too.

P.P.S. – One port I feel confident saying will never come over: Zelda CD-i games! XD

  2. I’d be so happy if this actually happens. Any Zelda game is one I’m willing to double dip on immediately. Especially wind waker. It’s really hard for me to sat which Zelda game I prefer between botw and wind waker.

  3. I hope they all come to Switch. Other than BOTW I havent played a Zelda game on NIntendo since the N64. I missed out on a bunch of them. I’ve really been wanting to play through WindWaker from the polay Ive seen it looks pretty good

  4. After the success of Breath of the Wild, the Zelda IP seems to be stronger than ever. Nintendo has even gone to the point now of branching out the characters into other genres like Hyrule Warriors and the upcoming Cadence of Hyrule. I think theres a very good possibility that the Switch will become an even better Zelda machine than Wii U and 3DS combined. However, your point about the release schedule is the key here. I doubt this “Ultimate Zelda machine” will be realized until the end of the Switch’s life cycle. I expect Wind Waker and Twilight Princess will come eventually, but not until at least 2020, probably 2021 before we see both.

  5. I need Windwaker HD on Switch! I never did finish the original. More than happy to get Twilight Princess as well, but I hope “coming to the eshop” wouldn’t mean digital only. A Zelda collection on a gold cart would be ideal.
I know a lot of people are excited for the 2019 lineup, but so far other than Link’s Awakening not much appeals to me.

    • Bring the gold cart I am ready! I can see this year being an off year for some if Pokemon and Animal Crossing aren’t your thing. Luigi’s Mansion 3 may scratch the Zelda itch?
