More coming from the Big N
Former president of Nintendo had this to say about Nintendo’s autumn lineup during the recent shareholder meeting.
Quote from MyNintendoNews.com
“Kimishima-san was also asked about Nintendo’s presentation at E3 and the fact that it caused a sharp decline in the stock value. He explained that the company is preparing to disclose more information to the customers at an appropriate timing, including products that will be launched during the year-end shopping battle. It’s not yet time to announce the full lineup.”
Fueling the hype train
Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Pokémon were the focus of this years E3 and the overall presentation felt a little safe with no big surprises. I feel like 2017 is a tough act for 2018 to follow and Nintendo will need bring a few key announcements this fall to strike a blow in the “year-end shopping battle.” The question is, what title or titles could that be?
Catching Monster, Fighting, and…
Last year on the Switch Mario and Link took on us two amazing adventures, but adventure seems to be lacking on the Switch this holiday season. After last year do the Switch need another 3D adventure game? I don’t believe it does, but I do think it needs a third game this holiday and I think it should be a Mario game.
Super Mario 3D World
This stellar four-player Mario adventure needs to make its way to the Switch and be experienced by the masses. The catsuits, level design, and boss battles really help this game to shine. They could take it a step further by making it a collection and including Super Mario 3D Land.
New Super Mario Bros U or a collection
Another Mario game that would be a great addition to the Switch is Super Mario Bros U. This while certain mechanics will need to be modified for the Switch version the game could work just fine. If this game were to be ported over I would love to see it include Super Luigi U and a Peach version of the game that includes her floating jump from Super Mario Bros 2. If Peach was included and playable in the other two titles we could the original crew from Super Mario 2 together again.
Another option for this series could be a New Super Mario Bros All Stars that includes all of the games in the “New” series similar to the collection we saw on the Super Nintendo in 90’s.
I’m sure this all a pipe dream but I’m always down for more Mario especially 2D Mario.
Creating another option
The last title that I feel would be a great addition to this years lineup would be an enhanced port of Mario Maker. Controls may be a little tricky and creating levels may take a little longer, but it would not deter from the fun. My biggest request with this game would be greater support from Nintendo this time around and do a better job listening to the community when it comes to changes being made.
What do you think about this year and the games lined up? Do you agree with me and ports or would you prefer new games? Is Nintendo doing what it needs to make its hardware sales goals? What game series do you think we will hear about this year? Let me know in the comments or join the conversation in my discord
