Wolfenstein Youngblood Physical Release Has No Cartridge.

Buy Wolfenstein Youngblood and get a case and a code.

GameStop’s listing for Wolfenstein Youngblood states that the game has no cart and requires an internet connection.

As a collector of physical goods, I’m not a huge fan of this trend, but it’s our inevitable future. The reality is this a win for everyone but collectors. No cart means the publisher can pass the savings onto the consumer. The game can still be in stores due to the case. I expect to see this more and more moving forward so make sure to have enough storage on your Switch.

What do you think about companies selling game cases with only a code? With this hinder your purchase of Wolfenstein Youngblood? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. If it came with a collectible booklet with artwork, tutorial, and credits, then I would be okay with it, but if it is literally just a case and a code then I’m totally against it.

  2. So disappointing. I feel these companies are alienating a customer base, and it’s a bit insulting. If they want to go full digital, that is their choice. But selling an empty case shows how out of touch they are. The kind of customer who wants a physical copy, doesn’t just want a case, they actually want a cartridge. Sadly, this makes Capcom’s 1/2 cart 1/2 download seem good.

  3. This is not a win for people who lend out or sell their games. I mostly collect physical games, and I do lend to friends from time to time.

An empty box is meaningless to me. A box with a game cart in it has value.
